Choosing a Ayurveda and Wellness specialist in India
An Ayurvedic physician in India holds a BAMS degree, Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, a five and a half year programme including a compulsory clinical internship, with many going on to an MD or MS in a specific Ayurvedic discipline such as Panchakarma, Kayachikitsa for internal medicine, or Prasuti Tantra for gynaecology and obstetrics. This is a genuinely different, parallel medical education to an MBBS, not an abbreviated version of it, and the specialisation matters: a physician trained in Panchakarma is not automatically the strongest choice for a chronic skin condition, which sits closer to Kayachikitsa.
The physicians listed here were selected on BAMS or postgraduate qualification in the relevant discipline, years in clinical practice, and the hospital and pharmacy infrastructure supporting them, since Ayurvedic treatment quality depends heavily on formulation quality as well as the physician's own skill. Several are attached to accredited hospitals in Kerala and Delhi NCR. Tell us your goal and we will match you to the right physician, with a recommendation within 48 hours.
