Dr Abhideep Chaudhary

Dr Abhideep Chaudhary is Chairman and Head of the Department of HPB Surgery & Liver Transplantation at the Institute for Digestive & Liver Diseases, BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi. With hands-on experience of more than two decades, he covers the entire spectrum of HPB surgeries and liver transplants, having successfully conducted more than 2,000 HPB and liver transplant surgeries.

He completed his MBBS and MS in General Surgery, and went on to complete a Fellowship in Multi-Organ Transplant Surgery at the Thomas Starzl Transplantation Institute, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), USA, where he also served as Chief Clinical Fellow and Senior Administrative Fellow in the Division of Transplant Surgery.

Dr Chaudhary's areas of special interest include robotic liver donor surgery, living donor and deceased donor liver transplant, paediatric liver transplant, ABO-incompatible liver transplant, simultaneous liver-kidney transplant, dual-lobe liver transplant, and complex liver and pancreatic surgery in both adults and children, along with hepato-pancreatico-biliary cancer surgery.

Before joining BLK-Max, he served as Associate Director and Head of the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation at Jaypee Hospital, Noida, as Consultant Surgeon and Assistant Professor in Surgical Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, and as Consultant at the Centre for Liver and Biliary Surgery, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS), and a Fellow of the Association of Surgeons of India (FAIS). He is a founding member of the Liver Transplant Society of India and a lifetime member of the Indian Medical Association and the Association of Surgeons of India. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Liver Transplant Society of India for the 2023–2025 term, having earlier served as Assistant Secretary General of the Indian Medical Association, West Town Branch (2014–2015).

He has received numerous honours including the NewsX Health Excellence Award, presented by Union Health Minister Shri J.P. Nadda, the Times Healthcare Achiever's Award for Rising Star in Liver Transplant, the Delhi Medical Association Vishisht Chikitsa Award, the National Status Award for Health Excellence, the Global Achiever's Award, and the Rashtriya Chikitsa Puruskar and Gold Medal for outstanding services to society.
