Dr Harshavardhan Hegde

Dr Harshavardhan Hegde is Senior Director of Orthopaedics & Joint Replacement and Spine Surgery at Max Healthcare, with over four decades of experience since completing his MS in Orthopaedics from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 1987. He has gathered extensive clinical experience internationally, including fellowships at prestigious institutions such as the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.

He specializes in spinal surgery, trauma and joint arthroplasty. His spine surgery expertise spans robotic fixation of the cervical and lumbar spine, cervical and lumbar disc replacements, craniovertebral fixations, scoliotic corrections, minimally invasive decompressions and fusion, and balloon kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty. He is an ATLS-certified faculty member with extensive experience applying AO principles to complex trauma, including pelvic fractures and fractures with extensive open injuries.

In joint arthroplasty, he performs rotating platform and hi-flex total knee replacement, revision knee replacement, computer-assisted knee replacement surgery, cemented and uncemented hip replacement, surface total hip replacement and revision hip surgery.

Earlier in his career, Dr Hegde served as Professor and Head of Orthopaedics at Pramukh Swami Medical College, Gujarat, Consulting Orthopaedic Surgeon and Superintendent at Bhailal Amin General Hospital, Gujarat, and Senior Consulting Orthopaedic and Spinal Surgeon and Director of Medical Services at Apollo Hospitals, Ahmedabad. He is a member of the Indian Medical Council, Delhi Medical Council, Haryana Medical Council, the General Medical Council (UK), and the Girdlestone Orthopaedic Society, UK.
