Dr Ruquaya Ahmad Mir

Dr Ruquaya Ahmad Mir is a surgical oncologist with over 20 years of experience in cancer diagnosis, treatment and management, practicing at Apollo Hospitals, Indraprastha, New Delhi. She has served as Senior Consultant in Surgical Oncology at Apollo Cancer Centre since November 2012.

She particularly specializes in breast cancer, gynaecologic malignancies and gastrointestinal cancers, and routinely performs major oncological surgical procedures for conditions including oesophageal cancer, rectal malignancies and pancreatic tumours. She has a special interest in treating gynaecological malignancies and breast tumours, and is a trained robotic surgeon who incorporates minimally invasive techniques into her practice where appropriate.

Dr Mir performs major resectional surgeries across a wide range of cancers, including head and neck cancers, lung and oesophageal cancers, gastrointestinal surgeries, breast surgeries and soft tissue sarcomas, along with the implantation and maintenance of long-term vascular access devices. She is involved in conducting tumour boards and DNB surgical oncology training programmes.

Prior to joining Apollo, she worked at Batra Cancer and Research Medical Centre and has consulted at several cancer hospitals across New Delhi. She has published research in peer-reviewed journals, including work on neuroendocrine tumours of the common bile duct and reconstruction for malignant posterior compartment tumours.
