Dr Ankur Garg

Dr Ankur Garg is Group Director and Head of the Department of Liver Transplant & GI Surgery at Paras Health, Gurugram, with over 25 years of experience. He has performed more than 4,500 liver transplants with a 95% success rate, and is one of India's most experienced HPB (Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary) and liver transplant surgeons.

He completed his MBBS at Government Medical College, Aurangabad, in 2002, followed by an MS in General Surgery at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, Mumbai, in 2007, and an MCh in HPB Surgery & Liver Transplant at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi. He was recognised nationally for his achievements and was honoured by former President of India, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Dr Garg specializes in living donor liver transplants, ABO-incompatible liver transplants, paediatric and dual-lobe liver transplants, cadaveric liver transplants, and the treatment of acute liver failure. He also performs complex liver resections, pancreatic and GI cancer surgeries, gallbladder cancer surgeries, and bile duct injury treatment, along with robotic liver surgery and minimally invasive GI procedures such as TACE, radioembolization and microwave ablation.

Before joining Paras Health in 2025, Dr Garg served as Senior Consultant and Director of Liver Transplant, GI & HPB Surgery at Aakash Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital, Delhi, and has also been associated with the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), Sanar International Hospitals, Gurugram, and Metro Hospitals & Heart Institutes, Faridabad. He is the founder-director of the LivCure Liver Transplant Programme within the Paras Hospital network.
