Dr Selvakumar Naganathan

Dr Selvakumar Naganathan is Chairman of Liver Transplant at Park Hospital, Palam Vihar, Gurugram, with over 17 years of experience. He is a renowned Liver Transplant and Hepatobiliary Surgeon recognised among the top liver transplant surgeons in India, specialising in advanced liver transplantation, hepatobiliary surgery, robotic surgery and comprehensive liver care.

He completed his MBBS and MS in General Surgery, followed by a DNB in Surgical Gastroenterology at Army Hospital Research and Referral, New Delhi, in 2011. He went on to complete a Fellowship in HPB and Liver Transplantation at the Centre for Liver and Biliary Sciences, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, in 2014.

Dr Naganathan has performed more than 2,000 surgeries over his career, including donor hepatectomies, recipient hepatectomies, live donor liver transplants, retrieval of cadaver livers, cadaver transplantations and major hepatectomies. His clinical interests include both cadaver and living donor liver transplantation, complex liver surgery for liver cancer, laparoscopic liver surgery, pediatric liver transplantation, and management of renal dysfunction in chronic liver disease.

He has previously worked at Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, Chennai, as Clinical Lead in Liver Transplantation and HPB Surgery, and as Director of the Institute of Liver Transplant and HPB Surgery at MGM Healthcare, Chennai. He is a member of several professional bodies including the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons, the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, the International Liver Transplantation Society, the Liver Transplantation Society of India, and the National Academy of Medical Sciences. He has authored more than 30 research publications.
