About Dr. Anita Sethi

Dr. Anita Sethi is Principal Director and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, and Max Multi Speciality Centre, Panchsheel Park, New Delhi, with over 35 years of experience in comprehensive eye care. She specialises in cataract and refractive surgery, and in all aspects of oculoplastic surgery and ocular oncology.

She completed her MBBS from Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi University, in 1988, followed by her MD in Ophthalmology from Dr. R.P. Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi, and her DNB in Ophthalmology from the National Board of Examinations, both in 1992. She went on to earn her FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK, in 1997, and served as Registrar in the Oculoplasty and Ocular Oncology Unit at Dr. R.P. Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS.

Dr. Sethi is recognised for pioneering the use of eye-saving therapies for intra-ocular tumours in India, including Selective Intra-arterial Chemotherapy (IAC) and Plaque Brachytherapy for melanoma and retinoblastoma. She has a special interest in treating and rehabilitating trauma cases, including war injuries and acid burn victims. Earlier in her career, she established and led ophthalmology departments at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Centre for Sight, Artemis Hospital, and Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram.

She has co-authored the book "Manual of Phaco Technique: A Text and Atlas" and published numerous papers in indexed journals. She has chaired sessions and conducted workshops on eyelid and orbital surgery at national conferences, served as faculty for phacoemulsification and LASIK training sessions, and is an executive member of the Delhi Ophthalmological Society.
