About Dr Adarsh Chaudhary

Dr. Adarsh Chaudhary is the Chairman of the Institute of Digestive and Hepatobiliary Sciences at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram, heading the departments of Gastrointestinal Surgery, GI Oncology, and Bariatric Surgery. With over 45 years of experience, he is one of India's most respected gastrointestinal surgeons.

He completed his MBBS from H.P. Medical College, Shimla, in 1978, and his MS in General Surgery from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, in 1981. He went on to train in the UK and USA, earning his FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, and a World Health Organization Fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles, in the Department of Liver Transplantation (1999).

Dr. Chaudhary was instrumental in establishing one of the first departments of Surgical Gastroenterology in India, and is widely recognized for having performed the highest number of Whipple's surgeries in the country. His areas of expertise include hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, gastrointestinal cancer surgery, and minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques.

He has published numerous papers in national and international journals and has received several prestigious honors, including the Vocational Achievement Award from Rotary Club, New Delhi (2002), and the Samaj Ratan Award for his contribution to GI Surgery (2001).
