Dr Ajay Kumar Kriplani

Dr. Ajay Kumar Kriplani is the Chairman of GI, GI Oncology, Minimal Access & Bariatric Surgery at Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI), Gurgaon, and is a nationally recognized leader in laparoscopic gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery, with 44 years of experience.

He is the Past President and Trustee of the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons (IAGES), where the fellowship programs he introduced have become widely acclaimed across India. He holds the distinction of being the first surgeon in India to perform a laparoscopic adrenalectomy and laparoscopic splenectomy, and also performed North India's first laparoscopic Whipple's pancreaticoduodenectomy and the first laparoscopic live-donor nephrectomy for renal transplant in India.

Dr. Kriplani has held academic positions at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, rising from Assistant Professor (1987–1991) to Additional Professor of Surgery (1992–1996), and has also been associated with Safdarjung Hospital, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, and Sitaram Bhartia Institute, New Delhi. He has trained hundreds of surgeons in laparoscopic techniques from India and neighbouring countries including Nepal, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, and serves as a graduate examiner for several universities.

He has been invited as faculty for 395 live demonstrations, guest lectures, orations, and keynote addresses at conferences across India and internationally, and has served as organizing chairman for 10 national conferences, workshops, and courses in the field.
