About Dr. Gaurav Sagar

Dr. Gaurav Sagar is Consultant Nephrologist at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi, with over 13 years of experience in renal medicine, including a special interest in vascular access, kidney transplantation, and critical care nephrology.

He completed his MBBS from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, in 1996, his MD in General Medicine from Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi, in 2002, and his DNB in Nephrology from the National Board of Examinations in 2009.

Dr. Sagar has been a pioneer in practising and promoting Interventional Nephrology in North India, and was part of the team that carried out the first successful ABO-incompatible renal transplant at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital. He was among the first few nephrologists in India to receive formal training in tunnelled dialysis catheter placement, having performed more than 50 such procedures within a three-year period. He also organised the first Workshop in Interventional Nephrology in North India, and was instrumental in organising India's first vascular access workshop in collaboration with DNS in September 2010.

He is a member of the Indian Society of Nephrology and the Indian Medical Association, and has published several articles in national and international journals. Fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi, he is known for his patient-centred approach, emphasising preventive nephrology and patient education alongside clinical treatment.
