Dr. Sanjay Gogoi is Chairman of Urology and Renal Transplant at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram, with over 25 years of experience in comprehensive urology practice. He specialises in complex and challenging urological procedures, and the majority of his referrals involve managing urological complications from other centres.

He has performed over 1,000 renal transplants, with outcomes matching global benchmarks, and is widely recognised for undertaking transplants in rehabilitated bladders, including pre-transplant augmentation cystoplasty and neobladders with continent diversion. He holds the distinction of conducting one of the largest series of paediatric kidney transplants in India, and was part of the team that performed the world's first Robotic Kidney Transplant.

Trained in robotic surgery, Dr. Gogoi has extensive experience with robotic procedures for both benign and malignant diseases of the kidney, bladder, prostate, and adrenal glands, with particular expertise in Retzius-sparing robotic radical prostatectomy, radical cystectomy with orthotopic neobladder, and robotic kidney transplant in patients with a high BMI. He is also renowned for his work in reconstructive urology, including complex urethral strictures, congenital malformations such as exstrophy, epispadias and hypospadias, neobladders, phalloplasties, neovaginas, anti-incontinence treatments, and genito-urinary fistulas.

He previously headed the departments of Urology and Renal Transplantation at Apollo Hospital, Colombo, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon, Manipal Hospital, Delhi, and Max Super Speciality Hospital, Dwarka. He performed Sri Lanka's first laparoscopic donor nephrectomy in 2003 and India's youngest robotic pyeloplasty on a five-month-old child in 2012. Dr. Gogoi has also rehabilitated hundreds of war victims with genito-urinary trauma from Sri Lanka and the Middle East, and nearly 30% of his patient base comes from the CIS, Africa, SAARC, and Gulf countries.
