About Dr. Nitin Sood

Dr. Nitin Sood is Vice Chairman of Medical Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram, where he leads one of India's leading programs for treating complex blood cancers and bone marrow disorders.

An experienced hematologist, Dr. Sood specializes in leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, lymphomas, multiple myeloma, amyloidosis, bone marrow and stem cell transplantation, bleeding and clotting disorders, thalassemia, sickle cell anemia, aplastic anemia, and complex anemias. He has pioneered advanced hematopoietic stem cell transplantation at Medanta, including autologous, allogeneic, haploidentical, and matched unrelated donor transplants.

Trained extensively in the United Kingdom, Dr. Sood worked at several renowned institutions including Barts and The London NHS Trust, St James's University Hospital in Leeds, the Yorkshire Bone Marrow Transplant Centre, Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Trust, and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, where he held roles ranging from Registrar to Consultant in Hematology and Hemato-Oncology.

He completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Mysore, followed by an MD and DNB in General Medicine in India. His UK qualifications include MRCP from the Royal College of Physicians, MRCPath and FRCPath from the Royal College of Pathologists, and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Hemato-Oncology from the General Medical Council, UK.

Dr. Sood has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and is an active member of several international medical associations, including the American Society of Hematology and the UK Myeloma Forum. He was awarded a bursary by the UK Myeloma Forum/American Society of Hematology in 2011, First Prize by the British Society of Haematology in 2009, and a Senior Research Fellowship by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in 2002.
